abilities of the seeress

Eyes of Etro: She was given the gift when Yeul was allowed to move into the mortal realm. The Eyes of Etro are close to chaos, due to this gift her life is shortened and taken away with every vision she is allowed to see. When the visions happen, she doesn't know the time frame of the visions or when they will happen. Yeul also gets a strange symbol glowing in her eyes the moment she has her vision, which can be weird for someone who is not used to it to see.

Reincarnation: Yeul is the first human, connected closely to the Unseen Realm and her soul is unique. No matter how many times that she dies, she is allowed to be reborn over and over. While she does not retain most of memories from the past life, she retains the same face and body along with some information. Yeul chooses to do this so she can live with humanity and enjoy it, especially with Caius. Every Yeul wants to be with reality, where life exists.

Magic: It's said that the Seeress of Paddra has powerful magical sealing spells. I am assuming that every Yeul can do this, but only one Yeul has actually ever used that magic. An example of this magic is during an attack on Paddra a long time ago, a creature from a another time had stepped through and was attacking Paddra. Yeul already saw it and was forbidden from intervening but did anyway, causing a paradox. This Yeul decided to go against that rule and use her magic to seal the creature away. The paradox happened slowly over time where people were disappearing and becoming orbs based on their strongest emotions only, not able to move on until their last wish was satisfied.

It appears that her magic can use time to a degree, it would be easy to assume she could stop someone on the brink of death with her magical seal.

Yeul is mysterious and reserved. She was born a Farseer and was forced to remain distant because of it. She is always born with the same face and body, leaving others to mistake her for past Yeuls. Her gift, "Eyes of Etro", gives her the ability to see into the future, but shortens her life-span over time, leaving the people who might have known her alive. Due to this inconvenient, sometimes troubling, fact, she remains distant and self-sacrificing, feeling that her own life is unimportant in the grand scheme of things, something to forfeit for the benefit of others. The only way she knows how to show affection for others is by protecting them with what she knows with her gentle touch. The reasons in canon that her character is like this is because, being a very important seeress, it is likely that her death has kept her away from others. She is very kind-hearted, allowing Noel and Serah to continue on their quest, helping them even when it will end up killing her. Noel, Serah and Caius often show concern for her life but she seems to block this out completely.

Being detached from society is the only way she knows how to live. This makes her lonely. Her lack of interactions in any reincarnation is apparent even through her interests. The isolated Yuel only participates in solitary activities. Painting, singing, traveling, everything our heroine does can be done alone. She is often to-the-point and does not sugarcoat her words. This, too, stems from her detachment. However, there is no malice in anything that she says. Yeul is often very cryptic in the way she speaks; an eerie voice and a emotionless face is all she can muster because being the seeress means that her words can do a lot of damage. It is very rare for Yeul to show emotion unless it's a complicated circumstance. When Noel remembered her birthday, just like any of the few times she knew that she had seen a happy future, she smiled. There is proof that she feels regret, worry, pain, happiness and sadness, but they remain hidden behind her stoic face. This is also a way of protecting others. If she were to show her emotions often, especially after visions, they would know something has happened and worry for her safety. There are only two people who can properly read her expressions: Caius and Noel. Caius in particular has been with every seeress, and while he might not know the inner workings of her mind, he knows her body language and the slight facial twitches that Noel would not.

I believe that Yeul is incredibly loving in any reincarnation. She shows that she cares for the best interest of everyone else except herself. Every reincarnation of her has died and has tried to convey that everything will be alright for everyone around her. Caius appears to be the only person she has deep feelings for. He is the one staple that will never disappear and will not look at her as others have. Yeul is never far from Caius, and every scene she's happens to be in always includes Caius. She loves him as deeply as one person could love another, and because of that her spirit returns to find him. Even though these feelings are there and deep-seated with her, she has not acted upon them.

This current incarnation of Yeul likes to collect flowers. She is attracted to them because she thinks of herself, in a way, as one of them. Flowers are beautiful and can be exotic but, at the same time, very short-lived. Her heart feels in tune with something that dies and is reborn consistently. It seems immature to collect flowers at her age, but there is little else that she prefers to do, if anything at all, more so than collecting flowers. She is viewed as very wise and incredibly mature for her age and, in each reincarnation of Yeul, she carries herself as if she is someone three times her age. Though, on rare occasions, Yeul does seem to act her own age, as represented by her reaction to Caius's death, or other similar events.

First Person: I feel very lonely. I wish there was a time where I could have spent my days not seeing the look of pain across Caius' face. I am not sure if I can remember a time where he was ever happy.

I am elated to know that my presence will be outside the timeline in hopes of creating a paradox where I am able to live irregardless of my powers.

I have come to this new place, it seems devoid of anything uplifting. It would be nice if we could grow a small garden of flowers, I would very much like it if we all could do it together.

That's the dream in my heart; a flower garden and to share it with the people who mean most to me. I am wondering if anyone has remembered my birthday with the exception of myself, it is very lonely because it is just us three lately and I have not seen anyone else in a long time.

Maybe the lack of people means the lack of seeing the future. Is it a blessing?

Third Person:
Many called Yeul their leader, the prime source of their livelihood whenever they turned to her. The small teenager watched in horror; her eyes and heart felt all the worry that her face could not. Yeul had already foreseen this future, she knew that it was absolute and could not be changed, but that did not mean she had to openly enjoy this dismal fortune. Slowly, she shifted her hands onto the stone ledge and easily positioned herself to lean up and move her legs around so they would hang off; this would be where she set perched during the battle.

Every thrust she could feel, it was as if the two were fighting with her in between them. Yeul's heart felt like it dropped with every swing of Caius' blade, every spin that Nero used to evade until there was nothing more to evade. Yeul thought of how it would be easy to change the fate of the fight, force Caius to lose through a distraction, a magical intervention or anything to keep her current Guardian from dying. While she had already seen the outcome, her eyes fixated solely on Nero but she could not see him be brutalized; Nero saved her from these types of things usually. Yeul was forbidden from showing such a reaction, lest she wanted to give the people a reason to dread.

Unable to look away, her eyes watched the final motion between the two. Caius' blade went across Nero's abdomen and splattered blood and entrails on the crowd and ground; Nero was dying and she could not go to him, her eyes felt they were welling up. Yeul was no longer interested in the battle, the combatants, the rituals or the crowd. Using the brief opportunity to display actual sadness on her face, she went to the stairs where her throne was and the child-like empress seated herself on it.

Yeul, although a very mature seeress, was still a seventeen year old and the presence of her Guardian dying said volumes to her. At least from this position she could not be seen by the crowd, she could garner enough time to get control of her emotions.

Notes left by former seeresses always spoke of a day when Nero would fall by a ruthless hunter from the out lands. The man with the violet hair and eyes.

Yeul's tears fell for the moments when the rituals were being performed and Caius was shouting loudly for all to hear through his brutality that he was the new guardian. Nero had been met by several Yeuls before him, he was plenty old by this time and truly loved -- there would no room left in her heart for another, especially one so brutal. During these small moments, she leaned back in the throne and gazed peridot orbs skyward until she could control herself. The sky was Yeul's sanctuary because it was something that would never change, never die and never disappoint.

Finally, she was much calmer. Yeul's eyes gazed on Cocoon from where she was, she always thought to go there and escape the occurring fate of this world. Yeul needed to show her face now, she couldn't continue hiding in solitude from the crowds and the rituals taking place. Easily, two yelled booted shoes touched the stone flooring and took her to where she was standing before to overlook the crowd as Nero disappeared.

Such cold indifference on her face, it was like she felt nothing at all for her former guardian.

I'll see you again, Nero.
